Guyana’s Keevin Allicock made his country proud by advancing to the medal round of the Commonwealth Youth Games Boxing Championship currently being staged in the Bahamas.
The young man, who hails from the Albouystown area in Georgetown, showed his mettle when he stormed to a commanding 4-1 victory in the Flyweight (52kg) division over British fighter Kian Bittles.
Known as an aggressive contender, Allicock did not mince matters and carried the attack to his opponent, earning a clear victory in the process.
Guyana Boxing Association President Steve Ninvalle was elated at the news.
It is not known who his semifinal opponent will be up to press time yesterday, but it is anticipated that Allicock will come out painted for war as he seeks to stake claim to either gold or silver medal at these games.
