…as Embassy commemorates 241st Independence
The United States of America through its Ambassador to Guyana, Perry Holloway, has pledged to continue supporting Guyana in every area that assistance is needed.
The Embassy of the United States of America commemorated the 241st Independence of the USA last evening at the Guyana Marriott International Hotel. During his address, Holloway, on behalf of U.S President, Donald Trump, said that his country would have done a lot for Guyana and will be doing much more as long as President David Granger and the people of Guyana want his government to continue.
According to Holloway, assistance would have already been given to Guyana towards: the oil and gas sector, provided employment opportunities, improving Guyana’s chances of being a candidate for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), providing assistance through its volunteer arm the Peace Corps and increased information sharing between U.S. government and Guyanese entities through the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
He said that what the US has done thus far in Guyana was only possible because of the cooperation of past and present governments, civil society, and the uniformed services, along with the hard work of the Guyanese people.
