A number of sponsors are on board joining hands with the Four Horsemen Promotions for the much anticipated Emancipation one-day Horse Race Meet which is slated for Tuesday August 1st at the Port Mourant (Big Yard) Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.
Among the companies stepping forward so far for what will be a riveting, exciting and action packed day of racing are beverage giants Banks DIH, Jus Water, Delmur Trading Company, Toolsie Persaud Limited, Cummings Electrical, Attorney-at-law R.N Poonai, Fazal Habibulla of Habibulla Meat Center and Rising Sun Cattle Ranch, Assuria Insurance Inc., Sankar Auto Works/Valvoline, Fix It Hardware and Bothers Incorporated, among others.
Already, more than 30 of the country’s best horses have registered for the seven race meet which has an attractive $5M in cash, trophies and other prizes at stake. The feature event is for animals classified E3 and non-winners for 2016 and 2017.
It also caters for animals’ classified F and G that has not earned over $500,000 for 2017 over 1300m, for a winning take of $350,000 and trophy. There is an event for 3 year-old Guyana bred animals over 1300m for $300,000 and trophy.
Animals classified H 3 and lower will run over a 1200m distance for a first prize of $300,000 and trophy. The 2 year-old Guyana bred animals will have their first taste of the track over 900m for a $250,000 reward and trophy.
The I 3 & lower animals will be competing over 1200m for a take home purse of $200,000 and trophy. The J 3 and lower animals and those 4 year-olds and older and K class will be racing over 1100m for a top prize of $150,000 over 1100m.
The L class non earners of $150,000 in 2017 will have an opportunity to run competing for $120,000 over 1200m. The top jockey along with the runner-up, the top stable and champion trainer will all receive trophies and other incentives.
