Dear Editor,
In spite of all the negatives that have flooded this week’s headlines, a welcoming announcement, published in newspapers, went unnoticed. The nation must commend the Minister of Social Cohesion for finally making moves to table the motion to resurrect the Ethnic Relations Commission. This nation is in dire need of this body, and it’s obvious that there will be lots of work to be done.
The names nominated represent a workable combination for the nation. In fact, no other commission in Guyana has seen such diversity. This is good for Guyana. All hands must be commended. The Opposition has been calling for the formation of the ERC for some time now. The motion is tabled; hopefully the two sides of the House can finally agree on something. Let us all together move Guyana forward. Best Wishes to all parties.
