Following the catastrophic fire Sunday at the Camp Street jail, the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has announced the closure of its office in the area.
“Employers are hereby notified that due to the current situation at the Camp Street prison, the NIS Office situated at Camp and Bent Streets will remain closed until further notice,” NIS said in a statement.
Employers wishing to make contribution payments or conduct any other financial transaction are being asked to do so at the entity’s Head Office, situated at Brickdam and Winter Place, Georgetown.
“NIS regrets any inconvenience caused and wishes to thank you for your patience and understanding in this situation. Contribution records can also be uplifted at this office.
Remember, contributions for the month of June are due and payable on or before July 15, 2017.”
