The Top Brandz Corona Invitational Football Tournament will kick off today at the GFC ground in Georgetown with three matches starting from 17:00hrs. The event is organised by the Petra Organisation involving twelve of the top teams in Georgetown and is sponsored by Top Brandz Distributors under the Corona Beer brand.
The teams involved are: GROUP A – Pele FC, Santos FC, Riddim Squad FC, Northern Rangers FC, Flamingo FC and East Veldt FC; while GROUP B – Western Tigers FC, Police FC, GFC, Camptown FC, Beacons FC and Black Pearl FC.
They will be battling for a first prize of $1million and the championship trophy, while second to fourth take home $400,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
Today’s action will see at 17:00hrs Northern Rangers FC facing East Veldt FC, while at 19:00hrs Riddim Squad FC tangle with Flamingo FC and in the nightcap at 21:00hrs Pele FC oppose Santos FC.
The playing days for the tournament have been mainly fixed for Fridays and Sundays at three venues, namely the Georgetown Football Club, Bourda and Tucville Ground.
The tournament continues on Wednesday however, at the GFC ground at17:00hrs. Western Tigers FC face Black Pearl FC, followed by GFC challenging Camptown FC, then Police FC come up against Beacons FC.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude by early September.
