A miner yesterday made an appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown
Magistrates’ Courts for allegedly raping a five-year-old family member.
Twenty-nine-year-old Elroy Williams was not required to plead to the charge which stated that on June 29 at Mabaruma compound, he engaged in sexual penetration with a family member.
It was further alleged that between January 1, 2011 and August 3, 2011 at the Mabaruma compound he engaged in sexual penetration of a five-year-old child.
The matter was held in camera. The accused was remanded to prison and he will make his next court appearance on July 21.
