– Paruima to get new primary school
Bids were open yesterday at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) for the construction of two nursery schools.
One will be built in Region One (Barima/Waini) and the other in Region Nine (Upper Takatu/Upper Essequibo).
The exact location of the one to be built in Region One was not listed. The procuring entity is the Regional Democratic Council (RDC).

The other nursery school will be built in the Yurong Peru Village, Central Rupununi Region 9.
Bids were also submitted for the contract to construct the Paruima Primary School, Upper Mazaruni, Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).
The Region One RDC is also the procuring entity for the upgrading of the Baramita Health Post.
Meanwhile, the Region Nine RDC will be upgrading the kitchen and laundry room at the Lethem Regional Hospital.
Contractors also vied for the contract to construct a bridge (120′ × 18′) at South Central Rupununi.
The Region Seven RDC was listed as the procuring entity for the construction of one (80′ × 30′) concrete living quarters in the Bartica Secondary School compound.
Tenders were also open for the rehabilitation and maintenance of fence, recapping of walkway and building up of compound with sand and stone at the Indigenous Residence.
The procuring entity was listed as the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples ‘Affairs.
The Ministry was also the procuring entity for repairs to the washroom and external works at Indigenous Residence, Princes Street.
The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) is the procuring entity for the upgrade of distribution mains and installation of service connections in Guyhoc Park, Georgetown.
The GWI is also the procuring entity for the supply of High density polyethylene (HDPE) transmission mains along Cemetery Road between Hadfield Street and Central Ruimveldt.
The Ministry of Education was listed as the procuring entity for several contracts.
For the construction of an Information Technology (IT) laboratory for the Patentia Secondary School, West Bank Demerara:
The construction of stores with generator room at the President’s College:
For the extension of workshop and classroom at the Essequibo Technical Institute:
For the supply, delivery, installation and testing of equipment at the New Amsterdam Technical Institute, Resource Centre:
For the supply, delivery and installation of countertops for the National Centre for Resource:
For the supply and delivery of furniture for the Cyril Potter College of Education:
For the supply, delivery and installation of bucket seats in the VIP stands of the National Synthetic Track, Lenora West Coast Demerara:
Finally, the Education Ministry was listed as the procuring entity for the supply, delivery and installation of air-conditioning units for Queen’s College:
Tenders were open for the supply and delivery of emergency indent supplies, Food and Drug Department. The procuring entity is the Ministry of Public Security.
