Guyana, arch rivals, 12 times defending team champions Guyana and Barbados were locked in an intriguing battle and were even-Stevens after a day and a half of pulsating action at the Georgetown Club and the National Racquet Centre yesterday morning.

Guyana’s Coach, Carl Ince, said this year’s tournament is living up to expectations so far with Guyana’s biggest challenge again coming from Barbados.
“Things are going even-Stevens with our greatest rivals Barbados and should be a good showdown from here on,” Ince said.
“Taylor Fernandes, Ben Mekdeci and Shomari Wilshire all won their match last night (Sunday night) and a lot will depend on how they perform for the rest of the tournament if Guyana are to win the championship again,” Ince added.
Coach Ince said that at this stage last year Guyana and Barbados were also even, adding that this was the case over the past few years, but added that team were optimistic about taking their 13th consecutive title.
