Kishore Lall, 49 of Parika, East Bank Essequibo, yesterday made an appearance before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he pleaded guilty to a simple larceny charge.
The charge read that between June 9 and June 15, 2015 at Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, he stole from the virtual complainant Wayne Barclay, one weeding machine valued $100,000, one chain saw worth $80,000, one cooking gas valued $12,000, one power car battery valued $30,000 and one goat valued $30,000 – property of Barclay.
The magistrate sentenced the accused to 18 months imprisonment, citing that he pleaded guilty on his first appearance and did not waste the court’s time.
Meanwhile, before the same magistrate, a construction worker was granted bail in the sum of $60,000 on an assault charge.
Thirty-nine-year-old Neil Garraway denied the charge which alleged that on February 22 at Mocha, East Bank Demerara, he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on the virtual complainant Indra Kissoon.
Police Prosecutor Preston John had no objection to bail being granted to the defendant and did not disclose the facts in the matter.
The magistrate then granted bail to the defendant and instructed the father of three to make his next court appearance on July 6.
