The Guyana Community of Service (GCS) has thrown their support behind athlete Emmerson
Campbell who has traveled to Trinidad and Tobago to compete in the Sports World Classic 2017 Invitational set for Trinidad and Tobago, today.
The organisation recently presented a cheque to Campbell and founder member of the entity Leslie Black said they are happy to assist the athlete and wished him well. Black added that the entity was formed last year to assist Guyanese athletes and they have also rewarded them on their success.
He said that sponsorship is of paramount importance for athletes to succeed and they will continue to assist. Black called on corporate Guyana to give back to sports since it can help boost a nation tremendously.
”Many people do not realise the importance of sports, but sports can do so much for a nation so we need to invest in our athletes especially at the grassroots level,” he posited. Campbell has won a number of Mr. Physique competitions locally.
