Dear Editor,
What is justice? Is justice only for those in great standing or for those who have families in Government? What about those people fighting for their livelihood? Is justice there for them too? What about those twenty two (22) staffers that were dismissed from (GEA) Guyana Energy Agency four years ago. Was justice served? What about the forensic audit results that was paid for by this Government and done by Mr. Nigel Hinds accountant service that stated Mr. Vernon James and Mr. Sherwin Johnson who didn’t volunteer to do the polygraph test should be reinstated in their jobs along with the other staffers and to be paid all benefits due to them for the time off their jobs. Was justice served? No.
What about the many visits that were made to Ministers of this Government seeking their intervention. Mr. David Patterson, Mr. Joseph Harmon, Mr. Basil Williams and Mr. Carl Greenidge; all were informed about the many skullduggeries that took place in the (GEA) Guyana Energy Agency, which were perpetrated by the same heads of department. Was any justice served? No.
What about the letter that was sent to his Excellency Mr. David Granger the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana seeking his intervention into the dismissal of the twenty two (22) staffers from (GEA) Guyana Energy Agency under the PPP Government. Was justice served? No.
A letter was sent to Mr. David Patterson from (GPSU) Guyana Public Service Union asking Mr. David Patterson to take immediate action to reinstate Mr. Vernon James in his job and to be paid all benefits due to him. Was justice served when Mr. David Patterson was contacted by Mr. Vernon James, he was told by Mr. David Patterson that the letter was sent to the GEA board of directors for viewing and he will give him an early reply. Was justice served? No.
Is there any respect for the Union that has been responsible for all public servants of this our dear land of Guyana? Mr. Mahindra Sharma the perpetrator who is responsible for the dismissal of the twenty two (22) staffers of (GEA) Guyana Energy Agency is still sitting on that chair receiving a fat salary when many former employees have to be driving hire cars for a living. Many are still out of jobs. One is dead (Mr. Thomas). How many more have to die before this Government see justice served? Are these staffers from GEA going to end up like those from Rusal Bauxite Company? They are still in Limbo? If the decision of the PPP Government was wrong then when you were the opposition could it be right now when you are the Government of the day? Justice, justice, justice is all they need.
