After months of trial and several adjournments, Ron Cole has been found guilty of killing Police Constable Nkosi La Fleur, in an accident at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.
However, sentencing for the convict has been deferred until June 1, when a probation report will be presented to Magistrate Leron Daly.
On April 11, 2016 at Eccles Public Road, East Bank Demerara, Cole of Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, drove motor pick-up GRR9355 in a manner dangerous to the public and caused the death of La Fleur.
According to reports, La Fleur who was stationed at the Providence Police Station was directing traffic at Eccles when he stepped back to allow a vehicle to pass in front of him. That was when the pick-up hit him from behind.
The 25-year-old policeman died three days after the accident at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). He was initially treated and sent away but was rushed back to the hospital after complaining of severe pain.
