Being a policeman or policewoman entails more than merely tracking down criminals. It also entails being there for those in need.
That’s exactly what ranks from the Golden Grove Police Station displayed last Saturday, when they visited the Lot 1031 Diamond Housing Scheme residence of 62-year-old Savitri Robertson.
Mrs. Robertson has been visually impaired for some 31 years.
Led by Inspector Lorna Adonis, and ‘armed’ with rakes, cutlasses and other implements, the ranks spent several hours cleaning Mrs. Robertson’s yard and surrounding area. After which they presented her with a cheque.
Mrs. Robertson expressed her thanks to God and the police ranks for coming to her assistance.
Inspector Adonis later remarked that the work of police ranks went beyond fighting crime, and also included looking into the needs of residents.
