The second set of quarter final matches in the 2017 edition of the Stag sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Derrick Josiah Memorial knockout competition will be played this evening at the Den Amstel Community Center ground.
Up to battle for the remaining semi final spots are Pouderoyen when they take on Golden Warriors to be followed by a clash between Uitvlugt Warriors and Wales United.
Already advancing to the semis are Den Amstel and Young Achievers which recorded wins over Stewartville and Eagles FC, respectively on the opening night of action, Wednesday last.
Den Amstel blanked Stewartville 5-0 on account of a brace of goals each from Delon Lanferman (6th and 8th minute) and Gideon Payne in the 60th and 62nd minute.
Kester Jacobs netted the other in the 12th minute.
Young Achievers upset Eagles FC 3-2, the latter scoring against themselves with five minutes to game time, Stephon Bentick, the culprit. Eagles took the lead first in a tight encounter on 60 minutes through a Marius Williams goal.
But Lloyd Prince who scored both of Young Achievers’ goals first converted in the 8th minute to cancel out Eagles’ advantage.
However, five minutes later, Eagles restored their one goal advantage when Chris Macey found the back of the nets in the 85th minute which was followed shortly after by the own goal.
Prince sealed the deal and a place in the semi finals when he achieved his double.
