Managing Director of Mohamed Ahamad Construction Works, Mr. Mohamed Faraz Ahamad and Managing Director of Modern Optical Service, Dr. Jose Da Silva are among a number of persons to be honoured by the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club (CS&TC) when this entity holds its Awards Ceremony, later this month.
The duo will be rewarded for their outstanding contributions to the development of the Race Walking in Guyana over the years.
Among other persons set to receive awards are President’s College students Enoc Alicock and Douressa Thompson who were voted the 2016 male and female Race Walkers of the year as well as their runners-up Akiyela Darrel and Tashana La Rose.
Meanwhile, the CS&TC will be hosting a 10k Race Walk on Sunday in observance of Guyana’s 51st Independence Anniversary. The race will commence at 06:30hrs at President’s College, Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara and proceed to the village market before returning to the place of origin for the finish.
The activities will continue on May 28 with a 10k Race Walk around the National Park starting at 06:30hrs. Trophies, medals and other lucrative prizes are at stake for the top three finishers in the male and female (seniors and juniors), veterans and Differently Able.
