Dear Editor,
The public of Guyana notes with sad satisfaction the increased successful prosecution and sentencing of child abusers. However, notably absent is the prosecution of the Muslim Imam implicated in the abuse of several young boys.
The families have been commendably vocal in their pursuit of justice; they have kept the Guyanese populace informed through the media and have also picketed several government departments, seeking justice for their sons. However, for various reasons most of which smell like conspiracy, the accused has not yet faced the courts. It seems money and powerful connections are involved.
However one cannot ignore that he is alleged to have no less than nine victims. So while a Minister has received eighteen years for his crimes against a six year old child, we impatiently await the execution of justice on the this religious man implicated in the abuse of the nine or more young boys.
