The Guyana Cricket Board yesterday launched the fourth edition of ‘The Guyana Cricketer’ Magazine at a simple ceremony held at the board’s office, Regent Road, Bourda.
Acting president of the GCB Fizul Bacchus (3rd from left), GCB secretary Anand Sanasie (4th from right) and reporters display the magazine at the GCB office.
The book features a foreword from West Indies Cricket Board president Whycliffe Dave Cameron. Cameron stated that the GCB continues to play a significant role in the development of West Indies Cricket, adding that they must be commended for their senior team winning three consecutive regional four-day titles. “As you may be aware the PCL contracted and academy players all train four days per week in a system geared to assist in their development. In fact, when one examines the PCL franchise approaches to cricket development by involved territories in the West Indies, it is obvious that Guyana is ahead in terms of organisation, implementation of proposed plan and performance,” he wrote.
The magazine also features an appreciative message from Minister of Business with responsibility for Tourism, Dominic Gaskin, Minister within the Ministry of Education Nicolette Henry, report by the GCB secretary, articles from the Jaguars Franchise League and 2016 year of activities.
