Grimes, Panday, Cavis Rodney (female) and Edwards powers their way to overall glory

The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation / Fitness Express Intermediate/Masters
Championships ended on Sunday afternoon last at the National Gymnasium with Yannick Grimes of Buddy’s Gym (Intermediate Classic), Vickram Panday of Hardcore Gym (Intermediate Equipped), Cavis Rodney of Outkast Gym (Female Intermediate Classic) and Space Gym’s ‘Big’ Johns Edwards (Masters Classic) emerging as the respective Overall Winners.
Weeks of dedicated preparation finally brought the rewards for the above named athletes who all showcased their individual prowess as the strongest in the business whilst etching their names in the GAPF’s record books.
In being crowned male Overall Intermediate Classic winner, Grimes’ winning Total was 537.5kg, 382.807Wilks.
Panday’s winning Total, which allowed him to capture the Male Overall Intermediate Equipped title, was 550kg, 368.445Wilks, while Rodney, who competed against three other females, took the Female Overall Intermediate Classic top spot with a Total of 390kg, 312.780 Wilks.
In the case of Edwards (Masters 2 120kg Classic), who was one of three athletes to break records on the day, his Total was 750kg, Wilks 491.381.
