As the weather continues to improve, sporting fans are eagerly anticipating tomorrow’s staging of the 2nd Boyce & Jefford Relay & Family Fun Day which will take place, at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.
The overwhelming feedback is that persons are excited about the day’s programme which includes track & Field, 5-a-side football, cycling, dominoes and races for the differently-abled.
According to a member of the Organising Committee, all the events listed are causing a stir among participants and fans and they expect a large turnout.
The football segment is expected to be among the highlights of the day’s activities with the hunted Sparta Boss set to renew rivalry with teams such as Back Circle, Bent Street, Agricola Champion Boys, West Front Road ‘Gold is Money, Broad Street Bullies, Camp Street All Stars and Sophia.
The addition of newcomers Police, GDF and Kaniamas from the East Coast of Demerara is also being viewed as evidence of the shorter version of football growing reputation.
When you add the community aspect where the fans come out in support of their respective neighbourhood teams the excitement becomes feverpitched.
The three new teams have all signaled their intentions to give a good account, especially for future invitations and representatives from the teams have indicated that they are taking the competition seriously.
The teams who’ve been invited are: Sparta Boss, Bent Street, Sophia, Camp Street All Stars, Back Circle, West Front Road ‘Gold is Money’, Agricola Champion Boys, Broad Street Bullies, GDF and Police.
Up for grabs is $50,000 for the winners and $25,000 for the beaten finalist.
Meanwhile, the Eve Leary outfield is in good condition and encouraging for teams and fans to have a day of fun and thrills.
