It is commonly referred to as the pecuniary segment or the business end where the four remaining teams battle for the prize monies on offer and tonight’s semi-finals of the Linden Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Competition promises to provide sizzling action, at the Silver City Tarmac.
Headlining the night’s activities is the clash between defending champion Team 25 and one of the pre tournament favourites Dave & Celina All Stars who battle each other in the feature game of the night.
In the preceding game, Swag Entertainment and Jermaine & Family Silver Bullets collide and this encounter could set the tone for a night of exciting action.
Silver Bullets, winners in 2014, cannot afford to take Swag Entertainment lightly and will have to be at their offensive best to breach the stonewall defence that the opposition possesses.
So far, Silver Bullets have netted a total of eleven goals in three matches they’ve played with teams such as High Stars and two-time champions Eagles suffering heavy defeats, 6-1 and 4-0 respectively.
Jermaine Lewis, Triston Ally and Damion Williams are the main threat for Silver Bullets.
Swag Entertainment’s defensive competence has been the staple of their quest for top honours.
Proof of this is the fact that they’ve only been breached once in a game that they eventually won on penalty kicks.
However, this is not to say that they are lacking in offence since players such as Colwyn Drakes and Shane Luckie are a lethal combination in tandem.
In the feature, both teams have shown an ability to score goals, while their proficiency to defend their goal is equally respected.
Both teams are coming off of impressive quarter-final performances with Team 25 easily dispatching Amelia’s Ward Russians 4-1, while Dave & Celina All Stars made light work of Young Kings, beating them 3-0.
Tevin Crawford, Teon Stewart, Ryan Noel, Rudy Halley and Ruel Williams are the key players for Team 25.
For Dave and Celina All-Stars, old hands like Keon Sears and Rawle Gittens have been in tremendous form, while Kennard Simon, Cordell Johnson and Seon Brewley have added admirable support.
The winning team will take away $400,000 and the championship trophy along with the opportunity to play in the National Playoffs.
Second, third and fourth placed finishers receive $150,000, $75,000 and $50,000 respectively.
Starting time is 21:00hrs.
Meanwhile, all four teams will participate in the National Playoffs.
The other sponsor on board is Colors Boutique.
