Bring Food For A Child (BFFC), a newly formed charitable project, conducted its first Food Hamper Outreach in several areas in Berbice, namely Fort Ordinance, Angoy’s Ave, and East Canje.
BFFC was founded by overseas-based Guyanese, Delina Cummings. She is the President/CEO of the charity. Delina who has a passion for helping to reduce extreme hunger among young children in Guyana, is a former broadcast journalist and anchor at Little Rock Television Station, Ch 10, Berbice. She has interacted with many needy families with young children during her years in the field.
The food hampers with necessary food items such as sugar, rice and pasta were delivered to families that have young children under the age of 12, single parent moms and dads. Footwear was also distributed to children. The project targeted families especially in depressed areas, and singled out those that were assessed as eligible for assistance.
The recipients came from a cross-section of villages, with children from infants to adolescents.
BFFC realizes that not having enough food is a common problem in many homes in Guyana, especially among larger families. It plans to continue to build the charity extensively with more members and donors in order to reach a larger population of needy families.
The executive members are Delina Cummings, President/CEO, Jharna Bose (Director) Roy Jafarally, (Director) Janelle Hamid-Barratt (Project Manager) Alexis Jafarally (Project Coordinator) Joshua Cummings (Finance Director) Sean Ward (Outreach Advisor), Lyn Desouza (Advisor, Internal Affairs) .
