Fazleem Mohamed grabbed five wickets as Regal Masters recorded a two-wicket victory over Ariel Masters when the Regal Sports Softball tournament continued on Sunday last.
Batting first at GNIC SC, Ariel Masters made 133 all out off their allocation of 20 overs with Rudy Rodrigues scoring 37 and Richard Persaud 21. Mohamed finished with 5-23 and David Harper 2-29. Regal Masters responded with 134-8 in 18.3 overs. Opener Lyndon Lyght carried his bat to remain unbeaten on 39 while Fazal Khayume made 26 and Afzal Haniff 21. Roy Persaud had 3-21 and Ron Ramnauth 2-9.
Success Masters conceded defeat against Ariel Masters at the said venue. Ariel Masters were 97-2 off 12 overs taking first knock when the Success Masters players refused to continue the game after one of the umpires made a decision in favour of the batting team.
At Malteenoes SC, Savage overcame Amazon by five wickets. Amazon took first strike and scored 151-9 in 20 overs. Rudolph Pereira made 38 while K. Persaud got 29; Z. Hussain took 2-18 and Unnis Yusuf 2-30. Savage responded with 152-5 in 18 overs. Ramo Malone struck 53 and Nadir Baksh 47. Pereira had 2-63.
HS Masters beat Mike’s Wellman by three runs. HS Masters batted first and got to 139 all out in 20 overs. Clyde Hoyte made 31; Raymond Harper had 2-10, Jagdesh Persaud had 2-24 and Wayne Jones 2-28. Mike’s Wellman responded with 136-8. Persaud slammed 86 and Greg De Franca 24. Hanoman Singh claimed 3-13 and Ronald Persaud snared 3-19.
In the open category, Success got the better of Good Hope by 50 runs. Led by an unbeaten 142 not out from Dindyal Lakhan, Success posted 218-4 off their allotted 15 overs. Devendra Deosarran contributed 35. Good Hope were restricted to 168-7 in reply. Parmanand Sukram made 68 and Dharam Ramnauth picked up 3-20 and Deosarran 2-25.
The competition continues tomorrow. At Malteenoes SC Regal Masters will play Mike’s Wellman at 10:00hrs and Savage will face Amazon at 13:30hrs on pitch one. On Pitch two, HS Masters will take on Amazon at 10:00hrs, Speed XI will entertain Hustlers and at 15:30hrs Speed XI will play Unstoppable.
At GNIC SC, Speed Boat will take on Pigeon XI at 09:00hrs, at 11:00hrs Speed Boat will match skills with Brickery, at 13:00 hrs Regal All Stars will face Pigeon XI and at 15:00hrs Regal will play Brickery.
