A total of fifteen outstanding Guyanese headed by Acting President of Guyana, Prime
Minister Moses Nagamootoo on Sunday last received the prestigious Dolphin Award of Excellence, the highest Award of Guyana’s leading Youth and Sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, M.S.
The award was presented during the club’s gala 27th Annual Awards Ceremony which was held at the Ttraining Centre of the St. Francis Community Developers, the Parent body of the club. The other awardees were Minister of Social Protection – Amna Ally, Minister of Public Health – Volda Lawerence, Managing Director of Nand Persaud Ltd – Mohindra Persaud, Managing Director of Ansa Mcal – Troy Cadogan, Senior Manager of Food for the Poor – Jimeel David, Food for the Poor CEO Kent Vincent, Region 6 Regional Chairman David Armogan, Bakewell General Manager – Rajin Ganga, Police ‘B’ Division Commander – Ian Amsterdam, Director of Sports – Christopher Jones, Marketing Executive of Farfan and Mendes Ltd – Onai Vasconcellos, Cricket Journalist Sean Danvers, Kaieteur News Sports Editor.
Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that the Dolphin Award of Excellence is the highest of the twelve awards of the club. Awardees are selected by a special awards committee headed by Foster and Vice President Mark Papannah.
The Awardees are selected based on contributions to youth and sport development in Guyana, role model status to be emulated by youths and being an outstanding friend of the club. Foster stated that the club strongly believes in honouring heroes as it is very important for youths to follow in their footsteps and also because outstanding persons should be honoured while they are alive.
He informed that over the last twenty-seven years, the club has developed relationships with outstanding Guyanese who also partner with them to make Guyana a better place for youths, the elderly and less fortunate.
All of the awardees have worked along with the RHTY&SC in the past and are some of the main reasons why the club has been able to have such a great impact across Berbice and Guyana. General Manager of Sterling Products Ramsay Ali and NAMILCO’s Managing Director Bert Sukhai would receive their Awards shortly as they were unable to attend last Sunday’s activity.
Minister Ally and Jimeel Davis spoke on behalf of the Awardees. Davis spoke on how special it felt to be honoured by the club as it is a highly successful entity which Food for the Poor has worked with on numerous programmes.
Minister Ally stated that she enjoys very good relationships with both the RHTY&SC and its parent body, the ST. Francis Community Developers. She expressed gratitude to the club, its cricketers and executive for awarding her for her contribution towards the development of Guyana.
Others persons who received the Award since its official launch are President David Granger, Busta General Manager Robert Selman, Gizmos and Gadgets CEO Ravi Mangar, Scotia Bank Marketing Manager Jennifer Cipriani, Metro Office Supplies CEO Avia Lindee, DDL Marketing Manager Larry Wills and journalists Franklyn Wilson and Gregory Rambarran.
