They are among the three hottest teams in the shorter version of football and this sentiment is not restricted to their achievements, but they are undoubtedly crowd pullers and a promoter’s dream.
The teams we are talking about here are Sparta Boss, the real bosses of the shorter version, the new kids on the block Back Circle and the most star-studded lineup on paper Bent Street.
These teams are set to appear in Sunday’s second staging of the Boyce & Jefford Relay Classic & Family Fun Day at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.
Sparta Boss recent winners of the Petra Organisation / GT Beer Futsal Competition and current national Guinness champions will no doubt be aiming to add another title to their burgeoning cabinet when they face some of the best exponents in the 5-a-side version of the sport.
Some of the notable players expected to appear for the bosses are Devon Millington, Gregory Richardson, Solomon Austin, Sheldon Shepherd and Cleon Forrester. Back Circle has been the revelation so far for the year, especially in the absence of the experienced Andy Duke; the young guns have stepped up and are regarded as one of the most dangerous teams to face.
Akeemo Anthony has been the bright spark for the team, while Jermine Beckles, Stephon McLean and Curtez Kellman are not too far off as well. What more could be said about Bent Street?
This is a team that is a virtual national team with the likes of Konata Manning, Dwight Peters, Colin Nelson, Joshua Browne, Okanie Fraser and Anthony Abrams in their lineup. They will no doubt be seeking some amount of redemption folowing their disappointing semi-final exit in the GT Beer Competition.
The other teams confirmed are: Agricola Champion Boys, Broad Street Bullies, Sophia, Police, GDF and Camp Street All Stars and West Front Road ‘Gold is Money’. Up for grabs is $50,000 for the winners and $25,000 for the losing finalist.
