Two men are nursing wounds about their bodies after a chopping incident that took place on Monday afternoon.
Jagdesh Ghamandhi, also known as ‘Marvin’, a cane harvester of Lot 103 Ankerville, Port Mourant, Corentyne, one of the injured men from his hospital bed at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, related that on Monday afternoon around 18:00 hours he left home to purchase food. According to the injured man, to reach his destination he would’ve had to walk through his neighbour’s yard.
It was while walking through the yard that the neighbour confronted him and a fight erupted. He stated that they never had an issue before and would usually traverse the said yard.
“He been a drink since morning and when me a walk, he come just so and start broadside me”, Ghamandhi said.
He stated that it was then that his irate neighbour chop him to his head, “Me scramble am and he fall down because he drunk, so me take the cutlass and chop am back from the side to he head and he finger”, he said.
Ghamandhi related to this publication that he is still wondering what could have sparked the chopping. He said that incident has still left him traumatized. The men were rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital and were subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
They are both said to be in a stable condition.
