Waveney Benn (second from left) seen with Chantoba Bright, Claudrice McKoy and Compton Caesar shortly after they returned to Guyana.
Former national middle distance star Waveney Benn recently offered support to the Junior Carifta Games team as she continued on her quest to give back to her native land.
Benn, who resides in the United Kingdom, donated a quantity of clothing, footwear and other equipment to members of the team compliments of 1E CEO and founder Sumir Karayi.
Karayi, whose Company is based in the UK, handed over a quantity of sports apparel and equipment to Benn shortly before her return to Guyana for an annual holiday, a period she uses to solicit assistance to help out lesser fortunate, but promising athletes and sports organisations.
Founded in 1997, the Company develops software for managing and reducing costs in IT, known as Software Lifecycle Automation and has 1,700 organisations in 42 countries. Its customers are drawn from public and private sectors across the world and include Dell, Arup, and Ford Motor Company.
Benn, who represented with distinction for a number of years at several international and regional games, including medals in the 400M and 800M at the Carifta Games said that local athletes need more assistance to take them to the next level and urged more business entities to follow in the footsteps of Karayi who she assured is willing to extend more help to local athletes.
Guyana finished with a total of eight medals (four golds, one silver and three bronze) at the Games which was held in Curacao earlier this month.
