Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and University of Guyana (UG) registered victories when the Georgetown Cricket Association Carib Beer first division T20 tournament continued on Sunday.
Host DCC defeated Transport SC by 113 runs. Led by 71 from Christopher Barnwell and 60 from Tevin Imlach, DCC posted 235-5, batting first. Barnwell clobbered six fours and seven sixes, while Imlach hit six fours and three sixes. Sherfene Rutherford contributed 35 and Brian Sattaur 30. Kevin Ross claimed 2-59.
TSC made 122-7 in reply. Suresh Budhoo got 27, Oslyn Batson 26 and Ryan Hemraj 21; Andre Stoll had 2-23 and Rutherford 2-33.
At Bourda, GCC beat Gandhi Youth Organisation by 45 runs. GCC batted first and scored 123-8. Martin Pestano Belle made 32 and Samuel Mc Kenzie 28. GGarfield De Roche grabbed 4-34 including a hat-trick and Parvindra Persaud 2-24. GYO were sent packing for 68 in 17.4 in reply. Alex Ramalho and Surendra Hiralall with 16 and 15 respectively were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Seegobin took 3-17 and Bernard Bailey 2-18.
UG recorded an important win over Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) at Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
Three of the semifinalist are now known, with Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) topping zone B ahead of Everest Cricket Club, who will face zone A’s winner DCC. The other semifinalist will be known next weekend.
