Dear Editor,
This sign on the Railway Embankment informing drivers that you cannot continue to Sheriff Street if you are driving west on the embankment is wrongly placed.
This sign faces the south at the junction of the Embankment and UG Access Road at the traffic lights and is only visible to north bound traffic on UG Access Road.
It means if you are travelling west on the Embankment to reach Sheriff Street you will not see the sign that informs you that you have to detour because of bridge repairs at Liliendaal. It is only by luck if your eyes glance in a northerly direction.
It is commonsense to put signs facing oncoming traffic from all directions. I was travelling west on the embankment and it was only when I reached Liliendall that I then saw the bridge repair work. Why a sign that only north bound drivers on the UG Access Road can see. What nonsense. But then again this is Guyana, the land without commonsense
Annoyed driver
