Dear Editor,
Previously, I wrote about the malfunctioning of the water treatment plants at Linden but this was NOT published. What I said then and I repeat now, is that the GWI staff is responsible for reviewing a consultant’s design before it goes out to bid.
I asked; did GWI staff complete such a review or further; is GWI staff capable of such a review? I have been informed that the contractor on the project indicated to GWI staff during construction that the design was faulty and suggested changes.
However, GWI staff maintained that the design was acceptable and that the contractor must proceed as per the design documents. Unfortunately the plants were completed but do not work and the CEO of GWI is now blaming the consultants and the previous Government. This is incorrect. GWI must take the blame and accept that someone or many persons at GWI failed to do their job.
John Persaud
Editor’s note: We were never in receipt of a letter from such a signature above on water treatment plant in Linden.
