Two sisters are on a mission to find their father who vanished more than a decade ago.
Iris and Abigail Stoll were around 15 and 11 years old when their 34-year-old dad, James Alban Stoll, mysteriously disappeared after leaving his home in the Onderneeming Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast to go to work.
Twelve years later, the siblings are even more determined to find out what happened to their father on April 23, 2005.
Iris Stoll’s last memory of her dad was with him standing at their door, looking outside with his hands covered in flour from cooking roti.
“It is time we get closure, we need to know what happen to him and if he is alive, we only want to know that he is okay,” Iris said.
When the 34-year-old man disappeared, he left four children aged 15, 13, 11 and eight behind, along with his wife, Dixie Annie Stoll.
Because James Alban Stoll was such a loving and caring father, his children and wife are convinced that he would not have abandoned his family.
In fact, just before his mysterious disappearance he and his spouse were watching a movie, Blood Sister and in the midst of the film, he told her only death can separate him from his children.
With this being said, Stoll’s children are convinced that something might have happened to him, and if in fact, he did leave home on his own, they just want to know that he is ok. The family still has their home at Onderneeming, hoping that the man will one day return.
Recalling what happened on that day, Annie Stoll said that her husband had been employed with an exploration company, Shields Resources. The company had an office in Georgetown and had operations at difference locations in the interior.
“Usually the company would call him and then he would travel to Georgetown and then in the interior. Two days before he went missing, someone called from the company and told him to go to the office on the Saturday (23rd April, 2005).”
At around 06:00hrs on that Saturday, Stoll left home wearing a black and blue sweater, brown track pants, and grey and white boots. He had $8000 and his ID card on him.
Dixie Stoll said that she called the man’s friends and relatives but none of them had any idea where he was.
“When I called (Stoll’s workplace) they said he never showed up and that he let them down,” the woman said.
As days went by, Annie said that she tried her best to look for her spouse and get answers but her efforts were futile.
The woman blamed the police for not doing enough to find her husband.
Asked how she managed to raise her children when her spouse did not return home, Annie burst into tears. She had been together with the missing man for 17 years, and said that she did not have to work when he was around. In fact, she had people working for her.
“After he went missing, I had to get a domestic job to maintain the home and send the children to school.”
She said that some of her husband’s relatives blamed her for the man’s disappearance.
Today, more than ever, Stoll’s family is desperately searching for him. Anyone with information about Stoll’s disappearance can contact the nearest police station or this newspaper at 225-8491, or 22-58473.
