Dear Editor,
Please permit me space in your newspaper so that I may highlight some truly disturbing revelations about a particular senior police officer who is stationed in Berbice and who quite often is very boastful about the backing he receives from two powerful Cabinet members. We would recall that it was this said officer who was at the center of an investigation involving the uplifting of fuel from the fuel depot at the Central Police Station and whilst it was pleasing to know that he was found to be in breach of the standard operating procedures of the Guyana Police Force and was required to face disciplinary procedures for his transgression, nothing has since been heard of the issue.
It is important to further note that this said officer was also more than a passing acquaintance of the now infamous Mr. Marcus Bisram who was implicated in the murder of Fayaz Narinedatt, a carpenter of No. 70 Village on the Corentyne and had been the recipient of large sums of cash for services rendered as a bodyguard for Mr. Bisram. In addition, he had also recruited the services of one of the accused who is presently before the Springlands Magistrate’s Court for murder; this individual hails from South Georgetown.
Further, I am also forced to reveal that another senior officer working under instruction from the abovementioned officer to provide security detail for Mr. Bisram, was transferred to Eve Leary along with two junior ranks. The question therefore needs to be asked “Why wasn’t this officer also sanctioned for his association with Bisram”? This officer seems to be on a mission to tarnish the character of other police ranks which includes both seniors and juniors in every department he has functioned in.
Mr. Editor I speak not only on my own behalf but on behalf of an unmentionable number of ranks who have all grown weary of the oppression being experienced on a daily basis under this officer. The ranks of ‘B’ Division have been demoralized and de-motivated by this tyrannical, narcissist who almost seems to be entertained by our misery. The Commissioner of Police needs to engage the Office of Professional Responsibility who I am sure will unearth other misgivings about this officer.
Frustrated ‘B’ Division Officers
