Continuing its unflinching, tangible commitment towards the development and empowerment of Guyana’s sportswomen and men is Fitness Express, located at the corners of John and Sheriff Streets, Campbellville.
Managing Director of the entity Jamie Mc Donald this week presented a cheque for an undisclosed amount to Vice President of the Guyana Amateur Body Building and Fitness Federation Seeon Satrohan towards the successful hosting of the federation’s 2017 Novice Competition which will take place at the Theatre Guild, Kingston, tonight.
Fitness Express has been the most consistent sponsor of the federation for all its competitions including its marquee event, the seniors and even assists with supplements for athletes for local and overseas competitions.
In handing over the cheque, McDonald reaffirmed his company’s commitment towards the growth of the sport which is now under the stewardship of a new executive committee which was elected in February last.
”We will continue to do our part for our female and male athletes. We are fully aware of the challenges when it comes to receiving corporate support and while it is challenging, we at Fitness Express will continue to do our bit to ensure that our athletes are afforded the platform to be competitive and to be rewarded, accordingly.”
Satrohan expressed gratitude on behalf of federation President Coel Marks and the executive to McDonald and Fitness Express for maintaining support of the sport even under new leadership.
Tonight, muscle flexing time is 19:00hrs with athletes set to battle each other in the Under-21, Women’s Bikini, Men’s Physique Tall and Short, Bantamweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight categories.
Other sponsors on board for this event are Space Gym, Hand in Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Company, Windjammer International Hotel and Cafe Sol.
