A high profile Berbician is currently under investigation for reportedly sexually assaulting a 19-year-old. According to the Divisional Commander, Ian Amsterdam, the teen has since lodged a report at the Albion Police Station and an investigation has been launched.
According to the Commander, “We are currently taking statements from both parties; we were told by the girl that they shared a relationship once. The matter is also in the hands of the sexual offence unit”.
Kaieteur News understand that the young woman recently gave a statement detailing that she was touched inappropriately by the 62-year-old man, whom on many occasions appeared on the popular television programme in Berbice “Alliance on the Move”.
The teen confided that she was sexually molested on three occasions but did not include that in the statements because of her parents “strong religious beliefs”. It was also revealed that the accused had made advances to “tie the knot” with the young woman and even promised her a job with an allegedly illegal Mercury business he claimed to be a part of. Attempts have also been made to have the matter swept under the carpet but the parents of the young woman decided to take it to the Commander of B Division so that it can be investigated.
The individual hastily denied the accusations. “That’s not so. I’ll take a law suit. I am not a fearful man”.
