-victim in critical condition due to internal bleeding
An angry lover was yesterday remanded to prison after she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Thirty-five year-old Cynthia McIntyre of Lot 18 Ruby, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plead to the charge which read that on April 17, last, at four Mile Arakaka, North West District, with the intent to commit murder, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Ryan Roberts.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore told the court that the virtual complainant and McIntyre shared a relationship and on the day in question the two were at a shop consuming alcohol when they had a misunderstanding. The court heard that the two had a scuffle and the accused picked up a broken beer bottle and stabbed the victim to his chest.
The victim collapsed and was air dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he is currently a patient in the Intensive Care Unit.
The prosecutor further told the court that the victim sustained a stab in the region of the heart and his still bleeding from the wound.
The prosecutor objected to bail being granted citing the serious nature of the offence, and the fact that the victim is still hospitalized in a critical condition.
The accused was remanded to prison and will make her next court appearance on May 9 at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate Courts.
