-face Back Circle in the final
The question of whether Sparta Boss has lost some ground or is it a case of teams working harder to catch them up in terms of ability will be answered tonight when they clash with a youthful Back Circle unit in the final of the
Petra Organisation / GT Beer Futsal Competition tonight at the National Gymnasium.
Sparta Boss definitely the most consistent team in the shorter version of the game will be aiming to exact revenge on Back Circle, who defeated them 3-2 earlier in the tournament.
They looked inspiring in their 4-1 triumph against Sophia in the semi-finals with Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson, Devon Millington, Cleon Forrester, Sheldon Shepherd, Eusi Phillips, Solomon Austin and Denis Edwards, all contributing to the win.
Richardson and Millington have been the pillars on which Sparta craft their success, but Back Circle on the other hand have shown admirable defiance in their defensive shape.
In addition to their defensive proficiency, Back Circle have also displayed offensive capabilities as well with Stephon McLean, Selwyn Williams, Akeemo Anthony, Sylvester Richardson, Curtez Kellman and Keron Joshua, the standouts.
The one guarantee is that the game will provide end to end action from the onset, but the outcome hangs in the balance.
The Bent Street versus Sophia affair is also proving to be a tricky proposition to determine a winner.
Bent Street have a star-studded squad that includes players such as Konata Manning, Colin Nelson, Dwight Peters, Anthony Abrams, Joshua Browne, Okanie Fraser and William Europe and they are no scrubs.
Sophia as well are littered with a plethora of skilful players such as Dwayne Lowe, Akeem Jaikissoon, Desmond Cottam, Shem Arthur, Sheik Kamal Orlando Jordan, Simon Emmanuel and Joshua Kamal and they’ve already proven to be a hard nut to crack on their day.
The turnout like all the other days is anticipatyed to be great and fans are being urged to get to the venue early to secure the best vantage point.
The winning team will receive $400,000 and the championship trophy, while the runner-up, third and fourth places teams collect $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the championship will pocket $50,000 and a trophy, while the Highest Goal Scorer and Best Goalkeeper will walkway with $25,000 each and the respective accolades.
The other sponsors on board are NaMilCo and Star Party Rentals.
