Curtez Kellman to join Grenades FC for CFU Club Championship Finals
Georgetown Football Club (GFC) is pleased to announce another talented graduate from the
Club’s developmental model, 18 year-old Curtez Kellman, a first team club regular, Golden Jaguars squad member will be playing in this season’s Caribbean Football Union Club Championship with Antiguan-based, Grenades FC.
GFC Executives after discussions with Grenades FC reached an agreement for Curtez to join up with the Antigua-based club just before the Antiguan transfer window closed late last week. Curtez now is expected to begin preparation with his new teammates this week.
Grenades FC will participate in May’s Caribbean Football Union Club Championship Finals and have been drawn in a Group with Central FC of T&T as well as Cibao FC of Dominican Republic, with the group playing in Trinidad & Tobago.
Kellman when asked what this opportunity means to him stated, “It means a lot to me. This is a step to fulfilling my dreams and with this opportunity is a boost in my career to become a professional footballer.”
Young Kellman went on, “I would have to thank my mom in Guyana and my dad in Barbados, who’ve been pushing me into working hard to achieve my dreams. I also want to thank Coach Faizal Khan and Coach Vurlon Mills who’ve been working with me for many years to become the player I am today, thank you very much.” Kellman went on to say he was thankful for this opportunity that has been set in place for him and he will keep working hard to make the best out of this opportunity in Antigua.
Kellman is yet another young footballer that has come out of the GFC set up of late following Kelsey Benjamin this year who is now a starter in the T&T Pro League for Caledonia AIA after moving from GFC successfully.
GFC General Manager Faizal Khan commented: “I am very proud of Curtez as a footballer who is a fantastic talent, but more importantly, for being a well-rounded young man. Since first working with him as a 14 year old until today, Curtez is arguably the best developed young central midfield/defensive football player in Guyana with a strong technical, tactical, psychological and social football foundation.”
The GFC staff members have played a big part in this talented young man’s football development. GFC is also expressing thanks to sponsors including Desinco Trading Ltd. and the others in the background for now for their continued investment in the development of young people through football for a better tomorrow.
