Opener Kevon Boodie struck a fluent century to hand Parika Salem SC an 84-run victory over
Zeelugt when the East Bank Essequibo Dwayne Stephens Auto Sales T20 tournament continued recently.
Boodie slammed 102 and got support from Kemol Savory with 36 as Parika Salem posted 176-6 off their reduced quota of 17 overs, batting first at Tuschen. Aleem Khalil claimed 4-11 and Awad Dass 2-23. Zeelugt were bowled out for 92 in 17 overs in reply. Khalil made 22 and Govinda Ram 11; Trevor Benn had 3-12 and Jason Heyliger 3-14.
South Side B beat Cold Fusion in the second game at the said venue. Batting first, Cold Fusion managed 157-9 with Malcolm Hubbard scoring 48 and Vikash Dhaniram 41. Wazir Alli snared 3-26 and Seenarine Oudit 3-29. South Side replied with 158. Tameshwar Chetram scored 43 while Oudit contributed 41. Arshad Azim had 2-28.
At Vergenoegen, South Side A overcame the host by 78 runs. Batting first the visitors scored 178-6 after the game was reduced to 17 overs. Renaldo Renee hit 61 and Julio Jones made 40. Neville Persaud captured 4-35 while there was one each for Stephon Johnson and Dwayne Stephens. Vergenoegen could only muster 100-6 in reply. Lennox Lewis made 36 and Jamal Gomes 15; Sheldon Alexander took 2-16 and Bernard Lewis 2-19.
Hyde Park beat Ruby at the said venue. Hyde Park got to 148-5 taking first strike. Adrian Johnson stroked 61 while Shaied Mohamed got 35. Ruby fell short in their chase.
The Competition continues today with Vergenoegen staying at home to Hyde Park and South Side A playing Tuschen SC at the said venue, while at Tuschen South Side B will face Hydronie and Cold Fusion will play Parika Salem.
