Foreign currency is de talk of Guyana. It short more than de head of de Bank of Guyana who li’l more tall than de Foreign Minister.
He role is to be de watchdog fuh all dem banks in de country just like de Waterfalls paper is de watchdog fuh de whole country.
He suppose to check how money moving in and out of Guyana. De banks got to notify him about all de transactions and that is de law. But a banker seh some of de banks does only report transaction wha ordinary people mek, Dem boys wonder if dem does report de transaction wha dem own big businesses does mek.
A banker tell dem boys de biggest businesses in this country got dem own banks. Demerara Distillers Limited got Demerara Bank; Banks DIH got Citizens Bank, Beharry Group got GBTI, Ansa McAl, Neal and Massy, Ainlim all of dem got Republic Bank.
When de Waterfalls paper and de Big Market paper want pay fuh newsprint dem got to apply and wait in a queue.
When de business people got to pay fuh goods dem also got to join de queue.
Dem boys hear when a banker ask if dem very big business got to wait in a queue when dem want pay fuh dem goods and supplies.
De banker want to know who does check on these banks to see if a level playing field exist or if dem does keep money fuh these big businesses.
De short man from Bank of Guyana who mek de money short should be checking on dem other banks. He should have been peeping to see if dem hoarding but he suh short he can’t see over de counter much less to see de books.
Dem boys always wonder how come Babbie and Jagdeo wha got more money than all dem banks put together, including Bank of Guyana, never think about owning dem own bank.
But after careful consideration and thinking dem boys realize that dem two chaps own East Bank and West Bank of Berbice, Essequibo and Demerara. That is what you call bank—de real banks of Guyana. If de short man serious he got to go and check dem banks on de east and on de west of dem three counties.
If he can get dem to declare dem money Guyana rich fuh life.
Talk half help dem boys open dem own bank.
