The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA), U-19 squad recently returned home from a successful trip to the twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
The team after suffering mixed fortunes during the first part of the trip buckled down and won all of their games during the second segment, which was played at the UWI Campus in St Augustine.
After their good showing during the first part of the trip which was played at Chaguaramas. The team was divided into two units for the second half of the tour.
The more senior group took on a senior combined male team, while the other group played against a combined junior team and a combined female side.
The more senior guys after losing the first match 17-25 bounced back to win the next two 25-22 and 16-14 for a 2-1 win. The other teams made light work of their female and junior opponents, blowing them away by 3-0 margins.
Outstanding among the players were Renaldo “Tall man” Bobb and Damion Al Ahmad, who were taken note of by the authorities for further reference. The team was under the guidance of National Coach and former Nation Captain Levi Nedd. Nedd, who is also the President of the BVA, doubled up as the manager/coach.
The BVA U-19 squad was made up of mostly of players from the Guysuco Training Center where Nedd is also the Students Affairs Officer.
Those that made the trip were Renaldo Bobb, Larenzo David, Simon Seecharran, Videshwar Mangroo, Renaldo Griffith, Kevin Todd, Khemraj Chatterpaul, Andy Rohoman, Komal Toolsie, Montel Denny, Jamal Bourne, Kellon Leitch, Damion Al Ahmad, Kellon Singh and Renaldo Persaud.
The BVA undertook the encounter as a result of an invitation by the Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation (TTVF).
