A 40-year-old man who fathered a child with a girl under the age of 16 has been charged with rape.
The man, Ince Adolph, 40, an IT Technician of Lot 91 Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam, Berbice and Fort Ordnance, East Canje, appeared on Friday before Magistrate Alex Moore in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.
Ince is accused of having sexual intercourse with a minor between December 2015 and March 2016. The acts were alleged to have been committed at New Forest, Fort Ordnance, Vryman’s Erven and other places.
According to facts of the case, the man had met the girl at a party and they became friends. They subsequently exchanged numbers and began dating. The man first took the girl in his jeep to New Forest East Canje where he had sexual intercourse with her.
They subsequently met on a number of other occasions where the acts were continued.
The girl was eventually questioned by her mother about her constant sickness but the child denied that anything was wrong. She was pregnant which affected her schooling.
Upon being questioned she related what happened. The matter was reported and the man was arrested. A file was prepared and sent to the DPP for advice and Ince was charged.
The girl has since given birth to a baby boy and has requested that the man support the child.
In court the accused was placed on $100,000 bail. Further advice is being sought in the matter.
Ince will have to return to court on May 12.
