Kevin Christian struck a fine half century, while Troy Drakes captured seven wickets as Tuschen South Side defeated Vergenoegen by 149 runs to win the final of the East Bank Essequibo Cricket Committee Lochan Memorial
U-19 40-over tournament on Sunday.
Christian hit a top score of 71 as Tuschen South Side posted a challenging 227, batting first. Ameer Singh supported with 36 and Elian Whyte 34.
Vergenoegen were bowled out for 78 in reply. Joshua Reddy and L. Alfred made 17 and 15 respectively. Drakes proved almost unplayable capturing 7-16.
Drakes took the award for being the best bowler and scoring the highest individual score (88) in the tournament.
Assistant Secretary Treasurer of the EBECC Timeka Johnson congratulated the winning team and urged the players to remain committed. She thanked the sponsor, overseas based Guyanese Dwarka (only name provided) who sponsored the competition in memory of the late Lochan (only name provided) who was a former cricketer on the East Bank of Essequibo.
