A vendor was yesterday sentenced to 60 months’ imprisonment by Magistrate Judy Latchman at the conclusion of the trial in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Moraino Wilson, 23, of Westminster, La Parfaite Harmonie, was yesterday found guilty of having in his possession 4.624Kg of marijuana in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
According to reports on the day in question, January 7, about 13:20 hrs ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch acting on information, intercepted two boxes at a Sussex Street Wharf which contained the narcotics, which was waiting to be shipped to Port Kaituma, North West District.
Wilson, on his first appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, had pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prison.
According to the prosecutor, upon his arrest, Wilson confessed to owning the drugs and told the police, “It’s a small hustle I trying to do.”
