With the successful staging of the season opening International ‘Reaction’ Drag Meet fading from memory, motor racing fans will now focus their attention to the upcoming Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC)
‘Race of Champions’ Meet set for April 2, at the South Dakota Circuit.
The more traditional racing has been attracting large crowds over the years and two Sundays from today competitors such as Stephen Vieira, Matthew Vieira and Elliott Vieira, stars of the Superbike category along with drivers the likes of Danny Persaud, Vishok Persaud, Rameeze Mohamed, Shairaz Roshandin, Chet Singh, Roshan Ali, Irfaan Kalamadeen, Andrew King and Rupie Shewjattan are most likely to take to the starting line.
The opening leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) is slated for May 21 in Jamaica all efforts will be geared on catching the selectors’ eyes. Of recent, the lower categories such as Group 1&2 have been the most subscribed providing lots of excitement for race goers and this scenario is expected to remain.
A number of young promising drivers are emerging and with the full-fledged introduction of karting, a nursery for the production of new drivers, it is the feeling of many that these two groups will upstage the more established categories.
