South Side A, Vergenoegen, Tuschen B and Hydronie all registered victories when the East Bank
Essequibo / Dwayne Stephens Auto Sale T20 tournament commenced on Sunday last.
At Vergenoegen, Tuschen South Side A hammered Ruby by 90 runs. Batting first, Tuschen South Side A managed 150-9. Damien Leacock made 47 and Julio Jones 44; Marlon Young snared 4-25 and Faizul Ghanie 3-15. Ruby were bowled out for 60 in 13 .3 overs in reply. Mark Gonsalves had 4-16, Jones 3-21 and Terry Newton 2-8.
In the afternoon fixture at the said venue, the home team overcame Tuschen SC by 20 runs in a match which was reduced to 10 overs due to a late start. Vergenoegen took first strike and scored 78 all out in 10 overs.
Dwayne Stephens and Nevin Persaud were the only batsmen reaching double figures with 16 and 10 respectively as Arjune Ajmal picked up 4-12 and Reaz Khan 2-8. Tuschen SC were sent packing for 58 in 10 overs in response. Ameer Khan made 16 and Ajmal 13. Stephens had 2-16.
At Zeelugt, Tuchen South Side B defeated the host by three wickets. Zeelugt batted first and mustered 121-7. Aleem Khalid made 22 and Keon Roberts 21. Seenarine Nandram grabbed 4-15 and Rabindra Daesrath 2-20. Tuschen South Side B replied with 123-7 in 14.2 overs.
Ryan Adams struck 64 while Ravindra Deokie contributed 20. Awadah Dass had 2-15 and Keron Roberts 2-23. Hydronie got the better of Cold Fusion CC by 13 runs in the second game at the said
venue. Hydronie got to 117-9, taking first turn in the middle.
Leorayan Ramlakhan made 34 while Amrit Rai got 25; Malcolm Hubbard captured 3-48 and Tavindra Mangra 2-25. Cold Fusion CC were limited to 104-9 in reply. Hubbard slammed 56 and Khancaiya Ramkarran assisted with 17. Azaad Azeez bagged 4-13 and Rai 4-15.
The competition continues on Sunday, in Zone A, South Side A will face Hyde Park at 09:30hrs and Tuschen SC will take on Ruby SC at 13:30hrs at Tuschen. In Zone B, Cold Fusion CC will battle Zeelugt at 09:30hrs and Parika Salem will play Hydronie at 13:30hrs at Zeelugt.
