With overwhelming supports being received for the upcoming Guyana Cup Fever 2017 horserace meet, the organisers have made a few adjustments to the programme which was recently released.
The meet is organised by the Port Mourant Turf Club in collaboration with the Jumbo Jet Auto sales and racing stables and is set for Sunday 16th April at the Port Mourant (Big Yard) Turf Club.
Eight races are listed for the day with over $8M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs. The feature event remains for horses classified B1 and Lower for a winning take of $1M over 1900M.
The E class event will now be for -The E1 and lower West Indies bred non earners for 2016 and 2017 and E3 US and Canadian bred non earners for 2016 and 2017 over 1200M. The first prize is $600,000 and trophy. The distance is 1200M which is the distance for all the other races.
The 4 year old West Indies bred and G3 and lower event will be going for a winner’s money of $300,000.
There is an event for animals classified H3 and lower for a winning money of $275,000 and trophy. Horses classified 3 years old, bred and born in Guyana and those classified I 1and lower will be competing for first prize of $225,000 and trophy.
There is another three year old event; this time for Guyana bred maiden horses. The winning take is $220,000 and trophy.
There will be a race for animals classified J2 and K with the pole position taking worth $175,000 and trophy. The final race will see the horses classified L Class Open galloping for a take home incentive of $130,000 and trophy.
So far all of Guyana’s top stables have indicated their willingness to be a part of the day’s activity with over 20 horses have been entered for the days meet.
Top horses, stables and jockeys will be awarded with trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Bourda Market.
A number of added attractions and incentives including free kites will be given away on race day. There will also be bouncy castle, trampoline and other attractions for children.
