Everest, Georgetown Cricket Club, Demerara Cricket Club and Police registered victories when the Georgetown Cricket Association Carib Beer First Division T20 tournament continued on Sunday.
Host DCC defeated GNIC SC by eight wickets. Batting first, GNIC SC scored 149-7. Ryan Shun continued his fine form with his second half century in as many matches, hitting four fours and a similar number of sixes in a top score of 52 while David Dick made 28 and Jason George 24 not out. Steven Sankar claimed 2-31 and Trevon Garraway had 2-35.
DCC responded with 150-2 in 16.5 overs. Tevin Imlach struck seven fours and seven sixes in a robust unbeaten 87 off 44 balls while Brian Sattaur made 39.
At Malteenoes SC, the host went down to GCC by seven wickets. Medium pacer Robin Bacchus provided the visitors with the breakthrough by having Kandasammy Surujnarine (02) caught before left arm spinner Anthony Adams removed Stephan Browne (01) leaving the score at 9-2. Adams then had Steven Jacobs lbw for 15 while Orin Forde was dismissed for nine as the host slipped to 39-4.
However, Marcus Watkins hit three fours and three maximums in a top score of 46, and got support from Nicosie Barker 21 as MSC managed 128-7. Adams took 2-3 from three overs while Joshua Wade had 2-30.
In reply, GCC lost Bacchus lbw to Kellon Carmichael 14 before Manny Forde was bowled by Browne for two as GCC slipped to 20-2. But Martin Pestano Belle and Ronaldo Ali Mohamed steadied the chase with a third wicket stand of 88. Mohamed hit two fours and three sixes before he was taken of Jacobs for 55 with GCC 21 runs shy of victory. Belle remained unbeaten on 37 (3×4,1×6) while Joshua Wade made 12 not out; GCC closed on 129-3 in 17 overs. Jacobs, Carmichael and Browne had one wicket each.
At Eve Leary, Police beat Transport SC by nine wickets. TSC took first strike and were sent packing for 74 in 14.5 overs. Steven Harris captured 4-9 while Raun Johnson and Ricardo Adams picked up two each. Police replied with 78-1 in 7.5 overs. Alex Algoo struck 51 not out.
At Everest Cricket Club Ground, Gandhi Youth Organisation suffered their second defeat in as many matches, losing to the home team by eight wickets. GYO fell for 91 taking first turn in the middle. Chris Deonarine made 30 as Chanderpaul Hemraj claimed three wickets and Ashkaya Persaud two. Everest responded with 92-2. Persaud scored 35 not out while Hemraj got 34.
