…alleged errant driver flees scene
Several persons are nursing wounds about their bodies after three vehicles collided
on the Skeldon Public Road.
The injured have been identified as Hemant Jagdeo, 48, of Number 72 Village, Corentyne, Berbice; James Kempadoo, 58, of Skeldon Community Centre, and a female, whose only name was given as “Shelly”, 24, of Number 74 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Reports indicate that at approximately 14:10hrs, a motor car bearing licence plate number PRR 7600, owned by James Kallicharran and reportedly driven by Brian Gomes, was proceeding south along the west-bound lane at a fast rate, and a pickup bearing registration number PHH 6816, owned by Skeldon Estate and driven by the aforementioned Hemant Jagdeo, was in front of the car, proceeding North.
Jagdeo reportedly attempted to turn West in a nearby street, when the car driven by Gomes collided with the pickup and subsequently slammed into another car PKK 912, driven by 27-year-old Devesh Latu, of 25 Grant 1778 Crabwood Creek.
The pickup toppled due to the impact with the car, and this resulted in the driver, Jagdeo, sustaining injuries along with the other occupant of the pickup, James Kempadoo. They were rushed to the Skeldon Hospital for medical attention. A female occupant of the car that Gomes was driving was also taken to the Skeldon Hospital.
Meanwhile, two other persons involved in the accident were taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Brian Gomes reportedly fled the scene of the accident. Police are currently on the hunt for him.
