The Management and Members of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, M.S would like to offer heartfelt congratulations to the Manager and players of the Lower Corentyne Secondary School Under-17 team. The team under the visionary leadership of Kevlon Anderson has reached the finals of the Guyana Cricket Board Secondary School and we would like to wish the team success in the final versus West Demerara Secondary School.
The majority of LCSS players are from the RHTY&SC and are the products of our very competitive and highly successful junior section.
The players – Justin Gobin, Joshua Munroe, Vijay Gopilall, Kevlon Anderson, Kristoff Williams, R. Ramoutar and Neil Tilliram are also products of our cricket development programme and the hard work of our dedicated coaching staff led by former national player Delbert Hicks and West Indies player Shemaine Campbelle. National Under-17 player Kevlon Anderson has led the highly talented team by example and to date has scored two magnificent centuries and a solid 61 to lead his team to the finals.
The outstanding performances of Junior Sinclair and Vijay Gopilall have also been noted by the Management of the Club. Gopilall has worked hard on his game to prove his non-selection on the Berbice Under-15 team was a huge mistake and in the Berbice Finals and National Semi-finals took six wickets at an average of 6.25 in an Under-17 tournament.
We at the RHTY&SC, M.S would continue to support the Lower Corentyne Secondary School and provide the school with cricketers to the highest standard. Our only disappointment has been the lack of media coverage of the entire school competition in Region 6 especially the two centuries scored by Anderson and numerous individual performances by young cricketers across the ancient county striving to establish their fledging cricketing careers. It took the visits of journalists Rajiv Bisnauth and Royston Alkins to highlight the progress of the tournament in Berbice for county finals and National Semi-finals.
Good-luck in the finals and we are confident that you would make Rose Hall Town, your school, county and the RHTY&SC, M.S proud by lifting the national championship.
