Police 45 years and younger are required to undertake a yearly two days fitness exercise in all the various police divisions and departments.
Police in the Berbice B Division last week completed the first phase of their requirement.
According to Divisional Commander of the Police B Division, Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam, the activity was a new initiative introduced by the Police hierarchy a year ago. According to Amsterdam the activity was introduced with the aim of testing the police fitness level every year.
Policemen 45 years and younger are required to complete the activity. Each police officer is expected to complete five KM course. After which they are require to undergo number of physical exercises in a certain time span.
The first set of ranks of B Division began their activity on Saturday and Sunday. They ran from Tacama Turn to Central Police Station. After which they underwent a number of physical exercises.
Those who fail the fitness test will have another chance to complete the event.
Another set of ranks will be undertaking the test next weekend.
